David Engelmann

A member since 1994, David discovered Congregation B’nai Emunah after taking an introductory Judaism class with now-Rabbi Emeritus Ted Alexander at Berkeley Lehrhaus Judaica. At present he is serving his third term on the board of directors, and second as secretary. He also serves on the ritual and building/maintenance committees.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, David grew up in the Fort Worth-Dallas area, earned a degree in journalism at North Texas State University in Denton, and wrote for sundry daily/weekly/monthly publications before moving to San Francisco in 1985. He is a long-time employee in patron and ticket services at the American Conservatory Theater, collects 78rpm records, and shares a studio in downtown S.F. with Rusty, a middle-aged orange tabby, also a native Texan.
