There is a critical need for blood, even more critical than usual because of the pandemic. The Southside Jewish Collaborative Tikkun Olam Committee has hosted several blood drives over the past several years.
Blood Drives are considered essential services to be continued during the COVID-19 shutdown. The Southside Jewish Collaborative has been approved to host a blood drive run by Vitalant.
When: Thursday, February 18th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Where: 625 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco
Currently, there is a particular need for type O- blood, the universal blood type that all patients can receive. Under the COVID-19 guidelines, Vitalant is strongly recommending everyone sign-in on line for making an appointment. Walk-ins will most likely be asked to give contact information for a subsequent drive.
Schedule your lifesaving appointment
- All donors should review Blood Donor Qualifications prior to making an appointment. See donor eligibility information.
- View FAQs, including those added in response to COVID-19. Note: blood donation process should take about an hour.
- Appointment Link
- Fast Track – Donors, if possible, should complete the health questionnaire online prior to arriving at the drive. The questionnaire must be completed the same day as the donation at Fast Track Link and the barcode needs to be presented at the drive. This can also be completed at BIJ. However, Vitalant in response to COVID-19 regulations, strongly recommends completing the registration prior to entering the building. Note each donor will receive an email the prior day with the link to complete the registration the morning of the 18th.
