Sunrise Sunset Cafe: “Harvesting the Music Tree” Lecture-Performance with Brenda Schuman-Post

January 15 @ 11:00 pm - January 16 @ 1:00 am

“Harvesting the Music Tree”

In honor of Tu B’Shevat, discover a connection between music, art, Africa, botany, forestry, ecology, conservation and the environment.  African Blackwood (mpingo, grenadilla) becomes oboes, clarinets, bagpipes, flutes, sculpture and medicine.  Virtuoso oboist Brenda Schuman-Post takes you on a verbal, visual and tactile safari to explore what’s going on worldwide for the preservation and continued use of this valuable, vulnerable, earth healing tree that grows primarily in Tanzania and Mozambique.

” Sunrise Sunset Cafe”

Jewish culture is served up once/month at our informal coffee cafe, as each of us brings along a dessert and Rabbi Mark grinds and brews up the evening’s coffee. You never know which genre of Jewish music may be playing, but it is guaranteed to be enjoyable. While we are religious about our coffee, this evening is a cup full of Jewish culture with the nice finish of havdallah (optional).
